Last week the Tour du Limousin took place around Limoges in France. During this 4 day stage race, in the 2.1 category in the UCI Europe Tour, we saw a line up of different leaders wearing the yellow jersey. Finally it's Mathieu Perget who takes the final win with a 3 seconds gap on his team mate David Arroyo.

Since 12 March and until the 27th of May the Maison du Limousin in Paris proposes an exhibition named Limousin terre de cyclisme.
Of course everyone knows Belgium and Brittany as cycling countries, but the Limousin region is also a cycling country with especially the Tour du Limousin in August.
The exhibition was officially opened on 12 March and I assisted to the official opening.
The Maison du Limousin
The Maison du Limousin in Paris, which is located at 30 Rue Caumartin in the 9th arrondissement of Paris has been created over 30 years ago. Located in the center of Paris, the maison proposes touristic information about the region and its departments: Corrèze, Creuse and Haute-Vienne, but also a regional library (which regularly proposes lectures and conferences), a shop, exhibitions and other temporary events.
In 188 days the 96th edition of the Tour de France, the Tour de France 2009, will start in Monaco.

The history of the Tour du Limousin
The Tour du Limousin has been created in 1968 by colonel Louis Perrier.
On 29 April 1968 the very first Tour du Limousin started on the Champ de Juillet close to the Limoges train station. At that time the Tour du Limousin was reserved to amateurs and 12 amateur teams were present at the start of the first edition. The first winner was Pierre Martelozzo who shortly after that victory became a professional cyclist.
