After the war between the UCI and A.S.O., a new war between the UCI and the AFLD
While A.S.O. and the UCI are working together in piece since August 2008 (see my article "Did the Tour de France and the UCI manage to find out how to continue together?) - and after the collaboration between the Agence Française de Lutte contre le Dopage (AFLD) with the UCI for the doping checks in the Tour de France - a new war has been declared between the UCI and the AFLD.

It all started with a report the AFLD published early October.

The Tour de France in video: a resume of 2009 and the route and promotion video Rotterdam for 2010
The presentation of the Tour de France is usually also the occasion to give the invitees and especially the Tour followers their goose flesh by showing images of the past Tour de France: a summary of 3 weeks of adventures in less than 10 minutes. This was of course again the case this year and I decided to share that movie clip with you in this article.

Tour de France 2010: the route and the stages
Yesterday in the Palais des Congrès in Paris the Tour de France 2010 route was finally officially presented.

Predicted since a few weeks already on paris.thover.com and updated to its final version (indeed, I was 100% right!) the night before the presentation, the route was not really a surprise anymore for me and the readers of my blog!

This article presents the different stages, the start and finish cities, the mountains and other climbs which will be part of the stages and the reactions on the Tour de France 2010 route. A Tour which can be seen as a flashback on its own history!

The official presentation of the Tour de France 2010 route
Tomorrow the official presentation of the Tour de France 2010 route is planned to take place in the Palais des Congrès in Paris. In this article you'll find all practical information about the presentation of the 97th edition of the Tour de France.

As usual, the invitation indicates 11.00AM for the start of the presentation, but it will actually only start at 11.30AM.

The presentation will start with the usual introductions by the two hosts of the day: Jean-Etienne Amaury, Président of Amaury Sport Organisation and Christian Prudhomme, Director of the Tour de France, before they'll finally announce the information everybody's been waiting for since a few months already ...

Paris-Nice will again start in Amilly in 2009 - first rumours on the full route

Just like in 2008 (click here for my photos of the prologue in Amilly and click here to see all information about Paris-Nice 2008), the Race to the Sun will not start in Paris (Issy-les-Moulineaux) -as it used to do up till 2007- in 2009 but from Amilly.

The Tour de France 2010 starts in Rotterdam, first rumours about the stages

Finally the choice for the city of the Grand Départ for the Tour de France 2010 has been made and Rotterdam beats Utrecht!

On February 20 I announced here that the Tour de France 2010 Grand Départ would be organised in Rotterdam, Utrecht or Düsseldorf. In the same article I announced on 18 September the news that the German candidate, Düsseldorf, had canceled its candidacy. A.S.O. thus had to choose between two Dutch cities and they apparently preferred Rotterdam.

In a press release A.S.O. today announced that the 97th Tour de France will start on 3 July 2010 from Rotterdam in The Netherlands.

In addition to the Paris-Nice 2008 track, ASO yesterday also announced a list of potential candidates for the Tour de France 2010 Grand Départ.

After the start from Brest for the Tour de France 2008 and from Monaco for the Tour de France 2009, 2010 will be for Düsseldorf in Germany or for Rotterdam or Utrecht in The Netherlands.

The two Dutch cities were already official candidate for the Grand Départ in 2009 and had told they were slightly disappointed to hear that would be in Monaco. The last Tour de France start in the Netherlands was in 1996 with the prologue in Den Bosch. The Tour also passed in The ...

The Tour de France 2008 will only start in a little over 6 months, but the first rumours on Tour de France ~~2009~~ 2010 stages can already be found on the Internet ... The Spanish newspaper Diario de Navarra announced on December 14th that the mayors of Arette in France and of Isaba in Spain both received a letter written by Christian Prudhomme, the Tour de France director, concerning a stage between the two cities ...
