A new Wednesday during these times means a new classic ... and this time it's the turn of the Flèche Wallonne 2024, already the 88th edition of this classic. The route has changed this year, with a different final circuit and 4 climbs of the dreaded Mur de Huy, instead of 3 previously. A total distance of 198.6 kilometers awaits the 175 riders who will line up at the start for 25 different teams.

The Flèche Wallonne 2024 route on an OpenStreetMap map
After the start in Charleroi, from the Place Vauban and the actual start 9.8 km further on, the riders pass through Sambreville and Fosses-la-Ville, before turning off at Denée to head for Rouillon and Godinne after crossing the Meuse.On the other side of the Meuse, they head for the first climb of this race, the Côte d'Yvoir (2.1 km at 6%), before continuing northeast to Ohey and then southeast to Havelange and then northeast again to the entrance of the final circuit. Here, they turn left to first seek out the Côte d'Ereffe (2.1km at 5%) and then head towards Huy and the dreaded Mur de Huy (1.3km at 9.6%).
Continuing on and branching off after Strée, they return to the entry point of the circuit, and then complete the same circuit 3 more times. On the 4th passage to the top of the Mur de Huy, they will battle it out for victory in the Flèche Wallonne 2024, and the successor to Tadej Pogačar will then be known.

The list of starters for Flèche Wallonne 2024
The outgoing winner of the Flèche Wallonne, Tadej Pogačar will not be at the start of the 2024 edition of the Flèche Wallonne. For his UAE Team Emirates, Marc Hirschi will be the leader at the start of this race... but he won't be the big favorite! In his team, maybe Juan Ayuso might actually also be a candidate.Among the favourites are Tom Pidcock (INEOS Grenadiers), winner of Sunday's Amstel Gold Race, and Mattias Skjelmose (Lidl-Trek), who took 2nd place last year. Mauri Vansevenant (Soudal Quick-Step), who seems to be in great form given his performance in the Amstel Gold Race, will also be present, as will Tiesj Benoot for Team Visma | Lease a Bike. We'll also see Axel Laurance for Alpecin-Deceuninck, Richard Carapaz for EF Education-EasyPost, Michael Matthews for Team Jayco AlUla and Benoit Cosnefroy, recent winner of the Flèche Brabançonne for Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale Team.
