This Sunday, between Compiègne and Roubaix, the queen race of the classics, the 108th edition of Paris-Roubaix will take place.
The Paris-Roubaix 2010 route, also known as the Hell of the North, hasn't changed since last year, but you'll find it for the very first time, as a whole, with all cobble zones, on Google Maps on www.velowire.com. In this article you can also download the route in Google Earth which for example allows you to do a virtual fly-over.
The Paris-Roubaix 2010 route on Google Maps
You're now probably used to find the routes of the main bike races on Google Maps/Google Earth on www.velowire.com. However, the route of la dure des dures, Paris-Roubaix, was missing so far.On the map you'll find in this article, you'll not only see the route but also all cobbled zones: each zone is indicated by a small cobblestone and when you click on it it will show you the length of the zone and the difficulty score Christian Prudhomme and Jean-François Pescheux have given to the 52,9 kilometers of cobblestones earlier this week.
The difficulty score, based on the length of the zone, the irregularity of the cobble stones, the overall state of the zone and its place in the route, is shown with 1 to 5 "+"es. The more "+"es a zone gets, the more difficult it is.
Not really surprising, the Trouée d'Arenberg (17 - 2.400 meters), the Mons-en-Pévèle zone (10 - 3.000 meters) and the Carrefour de l'Arbre zone (4 - 2.100 meters) are the cobble stone zones which have obtained the highest difficulty score.
This year, the riders will start from the Place du Palais in Compiègne at 10.25AM for a finish in the Vélodrome in Roubaix between 4.46PM and 5.25PM (the start and finish are thus 25 minutes earlier than last year). The advertising caravan will leave Compiègne at 9.00AM.

The new logo for Paris-Roubaix
On the official website of the race one can see that for the 2010 edition, Paris-Roubaix adopted a new logo: the Paris-Roubaix 2009 logo still showed 6 cobble stones with a red rectangle and the text Paris-Roubaix; from now on we see a logo which looks like a stylised cobble stone, graphical and in 3D with the words "Paris" and "Roubaix" on two lines. The letters A and S of Paris and the letters O and A of Roubaix are slightly out of line as if they were cobble stones which are not perfectly aligned.

The Paris-Roubaix 2010 poster which is also available on the official website of the race uses the sober colours of the the Paris-Roubaix graphical guidelines and shows a cobble stone which is thrown in the mud. The mud thus forms two cyclists, thus showing the difficulty and particularities of Paris-Roubaix.Finally it shows a 2D version of the new logo, the date of 11 April 2010 on top and the mention 108è édition / www.letour.fr at the bottom right.

Bonjour, suite à la lecture de votre parcours réalisé sur Google Maps, je me suis aperçu d'erreurs de parcours de votre part!
Erreur sur les secteurs pavé 18 Haveluy, Secteur d'Orchies et peut-être d'autres... Pour les personnes qui suivent le parcours via votre plan ils seront un peu surpris de voir aucuns participants.... Merci pour eux de modifier votre plan ...
Bonjour .je note une erreur sur le szecteur 27 paves troisvilles -inchy denomme rue Jean Stablinski En effet votre circuit sur la carte n'enprumpte pas cette rue mais une autre route enrobee !!!!!!!!!!:))

Tout d'abord désolé de ne pas vous avoir répondu plus tôt ! Comme ces informations sont assez recherchées et que je vais donc sans doute pouvoir les réutiliser en grande partie l'année prochaine, je voudrais bien les corriger !
Par contre, pour ce faire, et comme je ne dispose d'autres moyens que la carte et l'itinéraire horaire proposés par A.S.O., je voudrais vous demander quelques précisions :

- pour le secteur 18 Haveluy, est-ce le Chemin d'Helesmes qu'il faut suivre au lieu du Chemin d'Escaudain puis continuer le parcours comme je l'avais dessiné ?
- pour le secteur 12 Orchies, j'ai eu beaucoup de mal et visiblement j'ai donc mal choisi les chemins à suivre (en regardant de nouveau la carte, je me rends compte que ce n'est pas bon effectivement !). Me confirmez-vous qu'il faut suivre le Chemin des Prières directement depuis la D938 ? Si oui, sauriez-vous me dire quelles sont les rues empruntées dans Orchies ?
@Francis oblin : je viens de le corriger. Pourriez-vous me confirmer que le parcours est maintenant correct pour le secteur 27 ?
