The individual time trial of the Critérium du Dauphiné 2012 between Villié-Morgon and Bourg-en-Bresse saw the victory of Bradley Wiggins! In the general classification, the best finishers of this time trial enter or confirm in the top 10 while Wiggins comforts his yellow jersey.

The summary of the stage 4/ time trial Villié-Morgon > Bourg-en-Bresse of the Critérium du Dauphiné 2012

It were finally 171 riders who started in this individual time trial of the Critérium du Dauphiné 2012 in Villié-Morgon this afternoon. Indeed, Ricardo Garcia Ambroa (Euskaltel-Euskadi), whose bike we saw flying in the air in the last 500 meters of yesterday's stage, didn't come to the start, still suffering from his crash.

The first rider to start was Arnaud Gérard ( FDJ BigMat) but he didn't cross the finish line first. Indeed, Travis Meyer (Orica-GreenEDGE) who started third behind Dan Martin (Garmin-Barracuda), was the first to register a reference time of 1h07'50". Luke Durbridge20th rider to start, winner of the prologue last Sunday and team mate of Travis Meyer, Luke Durbridge, was the first to improve this time and Turbo Durbo clearly respected his nickname because he took off no less than 3 minutes of the best time!

He than had to wait for a little bit over two hours before another rider improved this time ... That definitely was not Andy Schleck (Radioshack-Nissan): already disappointing in the prologue, the rider from Luxembourg again lost quite some time, this time not only because of a lack of form but also because of a crash after 12 kilometers, due to a heavy gust of wind in a turn (all day long the wind has been very strong during this stage), followed by a flat tyre ... which made him end up 9'10" behind Durbridge.

Tejay van Garderen (BMC Racing Team) and Kanstantsin Siutsou (Team Sky) come closest to Luke Durbridge's time, at 1'03", while Vasil Kiryienka (Movistar Team) ends at 1'05".

Wilco KeldermanThe first rider to improve the time of the young Australian rider of Orica-GreenEDGE was Wilco Kelderman (Rabobank), recently best young rider in the Tour of California and who celebrated a little bit over a month ago his 21st anniversary, who did the 53.5 km at 49.67 km/h.

Michael RogersChris Froome (Team Sky) than registered a very good time at the finish in Bourg-en-Bresse, finishing 2nd in the provisional ranking at 8 seconds from the young Dutch rider. His team mate at Sky, Michael Rogers, 16th in the general classification at the start of this stage, improved the best time of Wilco Kelderman with 15 seconds.

Tony MartinWhile Bradley Wiggins (Team Sky) shows a great performance on the road, despite some skinsuit size problems, Tony Martin (Omega Pharma-QuickStep) registered the best time so far in his usual skinsuit, the skinsuit of the World Champion time trial.

Cadel Evans (BMC Racing Team) finally lost 1'43" on Bradley Wiggins who finished in 1h03'12", 34 seconds faster than Tony Martin!

As a conclusion ...

Watching the result of this time trial, the results of the following riders are most interesting to mention:
- the confirmation by Bradley Wiggins who really took a good option on the overall victory, even though there will still be two heavy mountain stages this weekend (see the race route)
- the disappointing time of Cadel Evans (BMC Racing Team) who lost no less than 1'43" on Wiggins!
- the very good times by riders like Wilco Kelderman (+1'26"), Sylvain Chavanel (+1'33") and Chris Froome (also +1'33")
